Family members of EU/EEA/EFTA citizens
Applications of family members of EU/EEA/EFTA citizens are processed with due priority and free of charge.
If you travel together with or going to join an EU/EEA/EFTA citizen in Lithuania, the following documents need to be provided:
- Original Marriage Certificate, Partnership Certificate or Birth Certificate (if children under age of 21) and its copy. If the certificate was NOT issued in the United Kingdom or in any other EU country, it has to be translated into Lithuanian or English language additionally (if issued in other language).
Please note, that Consular Officer has the right to request for authentication, legalisation or Apostille stamp of marriage/partnership/birth certificates in individual and exceptional cases.
Please note, that the Law of the Republic of Lithuania On the Registration of Civil Status Acts issued on 3 December 2015 No. XII-2111 imposes an obligation to the citizens of Lithuania to register the changes in their civil status with the Civil Registry Office in Lithuania. The duty is set out in Article 7(1)
Rules on the Registration of Civil Status Records (Chapter 3: Birth, Chapter 5: Marriage)
- Original and copy of the passport or ID card of the EU/EEA/EFTA spouse /partner/ parent.
- Proof of joint travel to Lithuania, or of the intention to join the EU/EEA/EFTA citizen who already is in Lithuania. If you are not able to provide these documents, please apply under the "Family members of EU/EEA/EFTA citizens, not travelling together with an EU/EEA/EFTA citizen"
- The address you will be staying in Lithuania (can be specified in the Application form).
