Today, May 27, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, is attending a meeting of the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels. The meeting focuses on Russian aggression against Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.

Ahead of the meeting, the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy told journalists that when making decisions, there was no need to be afraid of how Russia would react to one or another of the EU’s actions:

“I think that currently, the biggest problem of almost all the questions we are solving is our fear, that we are afraid of what Russia might think, how Russia might react, and how Russia might act. And at this point, our fear looks like it’s an invitation not only an invitation to act more fiercely in Ukraine, with heinous attacks against civilian objects, destroyed supermarkets, and killed children and women and innocent people, but also an invitation to act in our countries.”
